My friend, George Nikas, collaborated with
me in editing and restoring the poorly preserved and somewhat damaged
footage of this 1927 silent film. He received it from his mother, Mary
Creety Beery, former Hambidge Center director at Rabun Gap, Georgia.
The musical background is an original score added to the
project from my work with the T.R.I. Ensemble in 2005.
There
is a second film with the same history - which is a record of the
athletic events and dramatizations performed at the ancient stadium at
the base of Mt. Parnassus at the same 1927 Delphic festival. The entire
event was presented in honor of George
Cram Cook (1873 – 1924) American theater producer, playwright,
novelist, poet, and university professor who lived in Greece for many
years.
George Nikas and I finished this project in 2005.

performed at Delphi, Greece as an attempt to revive interest in ancient
Greek history. It was sponsored by Palmer & Sikelianos. The
audience was invitational and hosted for international guests. The
production pageant play, Prometheus Bound, was based on a work by
Aeschylus.
